Force.com Overview

In my previous blog post  I touched on the different cloud offerings from Salesforce.com. They do so via Platform as a service (PAAS), which is the driving force behind their cloud applications. Aptly named Force.com, this is the perfect solution/platform for building robust cloud applications on salesforce.com that can be used internally to support the business flow of your organization or can be published in the AppExchange as a package for other users to benefit from.

What is Salesforce.com?

There is a lot of hype in the market about Salesforce.com and its many products, so what exactly is it and how can it benefit you?
Salesforce.com is a company based out of San Francisco, California. They are the leaders in cloud technology. 
Salesforce.com is also the name of their flagship product, which is a highly customizable CRM with attractive out of the box features like Web to Lead, Weeding out duplicate leads, Opportunity Forecasting, Email and Campaign management, Google Apps Integration etc… All this along with the standard CRM features like Lead, Contact, Account, and Opportunity Management.

Display an image as a custom field on Salesforce

There are many times when we need to display an image as a custom field like when a status of a contact is changed to pending or accepted. 
                    
Though this is possible natively on force.com it is not so direct. Here’s an example which will illustrate how to display an image on/as a custom field on salesforce.com


You need to be an administrator or should have the permissions to modify Objects.

   What are Time Triggers?

Time triggers are used when we need to execute workflow actions at certain time based scenarios
E.g. If we need to send an email to an employee 6 days after he joined
Or if we need to update a field or send an outbound message, two hours after the Lead has been qualified.

·         How to Create Time Triggers?
Time Triggers can be created in two ways
o   Apex Cron Jobs
o   Force.com Admin Setup
